How to change a QR code's link after it's already printed

You printed 500 flyers. Then the signup link changed. Here's the part most people don't know: you don't have to reprint anything.

Why a normal QR code can't do this

Most free QR code tools encode your link directly into the black-and-white pattern. The URL is baked into the pixels. Change the link, and you get a completely different QR code image — which means reprinting every flyer, sticker, or sign that has the old one on it.

The fix: a QR code that redirects, instead of pointing directly

A dynamic QR code doesn't encode your destination at all. It encodes a short redirect link that we control. When someone scans it, we look up where that redirect currently points and send them there. Change where it points, and the printed code — the actual pattern of black and white squares — never has to change.

How to do it

  1. Generate a QR code for your website, social link, Instagram, or a PDF. Print it wherever you need it.
  2. When the destination needs to change, open My QR Codes in your account.
  3. Click Edit next to the code, paste the new destination, and save.
  4. That's it. The same printed flyer, sticker, or sign now sends people to the new destination — instantly, with nothing to reprint.

One thing to know

Editing a code's destination needs two things: your account has an active plan, and that specific code hasn't expired. Each QR code you make gets its own active window based on the plan you had when you made it — so a code stays editable for as long as its own window is open. Renaming a code (its label in your dashboard, not where it points) is always free, even after that window closes.

Try it now: generate a QR code, print it anywhere, and you'll be able to redirect it wherever you need — today or a year from now.

Frequently asked

Do I need to reprint anything when the link changes?

No. The printed code encodes a redirect, not the destination itself. Change the destination in your account and every already-printed copy sends people to the new place immediately.

Will old printed copies still work after I change the destination?

Yes — right away. The code itself never changes, only where it points.

Is there a limit to how many times I can change it?

No limit on edits, as long as your plan is active and that specific code hasn't expired.
